Step 5. Map Fields

During this process you will map the fields from the incoming source file to the fields that are already in your ACT! database.

 

Here is an example of the field mappings for the example configuration

When choosing the drop downs for the "ACT! Fields" you will see your ACT! database existing fields, you also have these extra options below:

 

Add Note - By choosing this from the drop down list, the data from your source will be created as an ACT! 2010 Note.
Add History - By choosing this from the drop down list, the data from your source will be created as an ACT! 2010 History.
New Field Button - By clicking this button, you can create a new field in your ACT! 2010 database to map your source data into.

 

Here is an example of the "New Field" screen

Replace ACT! Data - This choice is used to set whether the data coming in will "Always" replace the existing data or "Only if Empty" meaning there is no data in the ACT! fields currently.

 

Source Field - These are your fields that are in your import file.  You also have the following options under the Source Field column:

 

Merge Fields - This function will give you the ability to merge two or more source fields into one ACT! field.

 

Here is an example of the Merge Remote Fields box

Import Source Data - This choice is used to set whether the source data is "Always" imported or "Non Empty Only" meaning the import data must contain data or it will NOT be imported.

 

Click the Next button to continue to the next screen in the wizard or click Begin Merge to start the merge process
